Full Story:

Alexander Block von DASH im Interview: „Mit LLMQs werden Sybil-Attacken unmöglich“

Highlights include a brief bio, misunderstandings of DASH, dangers of tribalism, and more details about ChainLocks.

  • DASH is sybil-resistant due to masternodes (MNs)

  • Long Living Masternode Quorums (LLMQs) are regularly generated (for which 400 MNs are randomly selected)

  • These MNs still follow normal consensus rules (longest chain), but do an additional “testimony” for which block it saw first

  • If 60% of MNs in LLMQ testify for a block, then all nodes will reject any other block (preventing re-orgs / 51% attack)

  • LLMQs require little bandwidth due to BLS signatures

  • To attack the network, one needs to control a virtually impossible proportion of the network

  • Even if an attacker (improbably) does so, the worst it can do is prevent a ChainLock, and the network falls back to the usual proof-of-work security

  • A ChainLock block must also still be valid according to all usual rules (e.g. no double-spends or invalid signatures), otherwise network rejects it

  • LLMQs allow automatically instant transactions that can be chained

  • PrivateSend also automagically confirmed via InstantSend, thus PrivateSend mixing process will be faster too

  • Upcoming “Decentralized API” (DAPI) will use LLMQs to validate user objects

  • Expect LLMQs to be upgraded (better performance and less bandwidth)

  • Always backporting changes from Bitcoin to Dash, so as not to lose touch

  • Blockchain users coming, will provide foundation for Evolution platform
